Myopia control research includes dual-focus soft lenses and selected multifocal designs. A regular corrective single vision lens is not automatically a progression-suppressing intervention.
The design combines vision correction with an additional defocus signal. MiSight and the lenses tested in BLINK are different interventions, with different solutions and parameters.
MiSight was evaluated in a multicenter RCT, and BLINK compared various additions to single vision lenses. We do not combine them in a fictitious, directly comparative study.
IMI-Interventions for Controlling Myopia Onset and Progression 2025
IMI 2025 organizes optical, pharmacological, environmental and lighting strategies and the state of research on their effects.
Mature technologies and emerging methods have a different evidence base. The inspection is not an individual clinical eligibility assessment of the child.
Both key RCTs in the registry span three years. Post-RCT extensions and follow-up wear answer further questions, but do not automatically represent further years of the same randomized comparison.
Lenses require clean hands, proper use and avoidance of contact with water. Microbial keratitis is rare but potentially serious. Prospective pediatric data indicate a low rate of such events under the wearing conditions studied.
We do not transfer the risk of soft lenses to night orthokeratology. Progression percentages from different studies are not a common scale for product effectiveness.
Which lens design suits the refractive error and conditions of use?
How long does the effect last after lens wear is stopped?
Can the family consistently maintain hygiene and attend follow-up visits?
When is it considered?
They may be considered when the child and caregiver are ready for the rules of use and the examination allows for the selection of a lens. Eligibility is not determined by age alone or the power of the glasses alone.
